2009 Ski Season: Day 6

Kirkwood
Weather: Bluebird
Conditions: soft and groomed

Today was a fantastic day at Kirkwood. We went up on the Bay Area Ski Bus and got there early, by 8:15 AM. Jodi went off to get her rentals sorted out while I waited (and waited, and waited) for the lift tickets to arrive. I love Kirkwood, but customer service has never been there strong suit. An employee there today confided the the company is hurting financially and that they have had trouble making their payroll in the past months.

Anyway, back to the skiing. We started out at Timber Creek lodge. This is a newer facility skiers left on the mountain. There are two beginners chairs there, 7 and 9. We zig-zagged across the mountain taking two chairs on each of 7 and 5 to get warmed up. We then hit 11 and 1 to get to 2, 3, and 4. A few laps on the backside were great. We then headed back to Timber Creek for our 1 PM lesson with Jim. Jim was a fantastic instructor and has us both changing our skiing right away.

Tip of the day: drop your downhill hand!

Have fun out there and Happy New Year!
